Torch Table Cafe

The Dog List

Hot dogs are always popular when there’s a microwave nearby, like we had in the torch pulpit. Easy. After a while the same old toppings get boring.

So one day I scoured the internet for hot dog stands and their menus, and we started making them in the Cafe.

What started as a simple idea turned into Butters, Clint, myself, and occasionally Giggles eating hot dogs every work day for over a month. Quality beef dogs and buns — the kind you’d get at a decent stand.

Some were good. Some were very good. Some were meh. It even got to the point where each of us came up with our own dog.

After over a month of this fine dining, Butters said, “Can we skip hot dogs for a while? I’m not feeling too good.”

“Ha ha, sissy,” I called him, along with a few other names too — until a day or two later a doctor visit showed my blood pressure had spiked through the roof. 😳

Long story short: try some of the dogs on this list. Some of them are really tasty. Heed the story. Eat them in moderation.

One menu dog that really stood out was the Wisconsin Ave. Dog. Sounds too simple and boring. Once those four cheeses melt and the oil they give up — that was the surprise.
